PHASE 2. MEET THE COACHES.

DANIEL DAE KIM

Daniel Dae Kim is an actor, director, producer, and social advocate widely known for his work in ABC’s “Lost,” CBS’s “Hawaii Five-O,” Netflix’s “Stowaway”, and Disney’s “Raya And The Last Dragon.” Currently, Kim stars as the villainous Fire Lord Ozai in the live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” for Netflix and he just finished production on a new series for Amazon. Produced by his company 3AD and starring Daniel as the lead, his new series was shot totally in South Korea and is set to debut in 2025. Kim’s advocacy for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is longstanding. His testimony in front of Congress helped lead to the passage of the “Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act,” and he currently serves on the White House’s Commission for Asian American, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.

He also serves on the Board of Gold House, with whom he partners, along with the Asian American Foundation, on the Sunrise Collective, the first ever official AAPI centered House at the Sundance Film Festival. 

TIA CARRERE

Tia Carrere was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She moved to Los Angeles and continued her ascent in the acting world as a series regular on “General Hospital”.

With her iconic breakthrough role as Cassandra Wong in “Wayne's World” and “Wayne's World 2”, Tia was able to showcase her considerable singing as well as acting chops. “Wayne's World” was a worldwide phenom and set the stage for her femme fatale role of Juno Skinner in James Cameron's film “True Lies”. Many other films and television appearances followed until her own series lead in Relic Hunter that continues to play all over the world in syndication. Other work includes Nip/Tuck, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Blue Bloods, NCIS and many more. Tia returned to her Hawaii roots starring in Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch”, while on the musical front, she has been nominated four times and won two Grammy awards with the records “'ikena” and “Huana Ke Aloha”.

STEPHEN HILL

After years of study with famed coach Susan Batson, many student/indie films, plays, and film festival circuits, Stephen developed a hard-earned reputation for solid work in drama, comedy, voice-over, and commercials. His dedication has filled his resume with work on Law & Order SVU, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Political Animals, Blue Bloods, Boardwalk Empire, HBO’s Lewis & Clark, Marvel's Luke Cage, Sir Steve McQueen's Widows, the HBO series Random Acts of Flyness, Manhood (The National Black Theater), and the Netflix series Maniac. You may recognize Stephen for his most recent work in the role of Theodore 'TC' Calvin in the modern reboot of the TV classic, Magnum P.I., and the multi-award winning musical film, The Color Purple (2023).

ROBBIE MAGASIVA

Robbie Magasiva is a Samoan New Zealand actor who has become one of the most in demand by gaining recognition for his versatility and talent as an actor in both dramatic and comedic roles.  Robbie currently leads the cast of RESCUE HI SURF, which premieres in Fall 2024 on the Fox Network.

Robbie is best known for his portrayal of “Will Jackson” in the award winning drama series WENTWORTH.  Robbie starred in all nine seasons and was nominated for the Logie Award (The Australian Emmy) in 2019 for ‘Most Outstanding Actor.’  Robbie just wrapped production on MADAM starring opposite Rachel Griffiths.  On the film side, he can currently be seen in BAD BEHAVIOUR directed by Alice Englert, alongside Jennifer Connelly and Ben Whishaw.  Recent TV credits include the comedy series SPREADSHEET for Paramount+.  He is also known for the New Zealand drama SHORTLAND STREET.  Robbie’s career spans both the stage and screen, he began his career as of the NAKED SAMOANS, a comedy troupe renowned for their ability to tackle social issues and cultural stereotypes with wit and humor, often drawing on their own experiences as Pacific Islanders living in New Zealand.

KELLY HU

Born in Honolulu, Kelly Hu always aspired to be an actress.  Determined to begin her career, Kelly catapulted into the spotlight in 1985 when she was crowned Miss Teen USA becoming the first Asian American to win the title.

Kelly would later be cast to star opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the Universal Pictures' SCORPION KING, directed by Chuck Russell and with the A-list cast of X2: X-MEN UNITED, the sequel to the blockbuster sci-fi tale X-MEN.  Playing the role of the villainess Yuriko Oyama a.k.a. Lady Deathstrike, Hu got to demonstrate her mutant powers in an extraordinary fight scene with Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman.  She displayed her black belt skills again in the action film CRADLE TO THE GRAVE battling Jet Li.  She also appeared as Leilani on the hit Netflix film FINDING OHANA.

ALEX O’LOUGHLIN

Alex O'Loughlin is an Australian actor, writer, director, and producer, who portrayed Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett on CBS' remake of the TV series Hawaii Five-0 (2010–2020). He had starring roles in the films Oyster Farmer (2004) and The Back-up Plan (2010), as well as on such television series as Moonlight (2007–2008) and Three Rivers (2009–2010). He enrolled at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney in 1999 and graduated in June 2002 after completing a three-year, full-time Bachelor of Dramatic Art program. Alex calls Hawaii home.

 

LINDSAY WATSON

Lindsay is a native of Maui, HI and attended Kamehameha Schools Maui, where she first explored acting through their theater program in both plays & musicals. After graduating, she relocated to Los Angeles where she pursued acting in film & television. She has trained extensively at numerous acting studios throughout Los Angeles. Prior to her film castings, Lindsay has had an extensive commercial career with ads for Adidas, Nike, United Airlines, Playstation, Shiseido, Hyundai and Subway to name a few. 

Lindsay Watson can be seen starring in Netflix’s Finding ‘Ohana in which she plays one of the lead roles, Hana Okumura. Lindsay's current film, The Wind and The Reckoning, is now touring the festival circuit and stars Lindsay portraying the historical role of Pi’ilani. Lindsay has recently started to explore her passion for writing film & television scripts, as well as her passion for singing.
